Tiffany Blue

Behind black pocket doors, a dining room is filled with the beauty and serenity of Tiffany blue. How gorgeous is that silver leaf ceiling with this very special blue?

A single chair in Tiffany blue can bring an all-white room to life. This one looks great with a gallery wall of black and white architectural photographic art in white frames with white matting.

Wide stripes in Tiffany blue and white are brilliant in this feminine creative space. Round mirrors like this one in its chunky white frame can add visual interest against the straight lines of a striped wall.

Tiffany blue is the perfect color for bedding and feminine swags at the windows of this gorgeous classic apartment bedroom. Are we in Paris?

A crisp white and Tiffany blue color palette is stunning in this large bath with shimmering white tile floor. Pops of pink are perfect here.

A small simple laundry room is transformed by Tiffany blue paint, pretty window shade and feminine chandelier. What a successful project this is!

Pale blue, white and a touch of taupe are the colors used to create this serene bedroom. A silvery brushed-metal mini pendant light is hung above the white four-poster bed.

These lovely blues and shimmery metallics come together to create a beautiful bedroom retreat inspired by the ethereal quality of the unframed seascape. It’s the ultimate end of a hectic day get away. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

So of course, I was surfing around online looking for accents for my home and landed on Wayfair.com.  This site has so much stuff!  It’s a bit overwhelming, but you can almost always find what you are looking for, or get inspired by some funky products.

Anyway, today I noticed an “Ideas & Advice” link on the home page that offered insight as to what types of pieces people should be spending money on while home decorating, and what pieces you could save on.

This is what I always tell my clients!   It was so great to see it broken down on such a large website so I got pretty excited and decided to post about it (thanks Wayfair!).

1. The Sofa-

“Sofas should be durable and comfortable. Choose a neutral sofa without a lot of embellishments to ensure that it will fit with your changing style and tastes.
Look for cotton, wool, and leather sofas that will stand the test of time (and kids!). While linen upholstery gives off a casual feel, the fabric wrinkles easily and won’t withstand lots of wear and tear. Silk is delicate and must be cleaned professionally when it gets dirty.”
2. Rugs-
“Since they’re usually placed in high-traffic areas, it’s important to choose a durable rug. Handmade, 100% wool rugs can last a lifetime, while less expensive rugs made from synthetic materials will fall apart after a few years of use.”

3. The Bed-
“We spend nearly one-third of our lives in bed. So, why not make it the most luxurious and relaxing experience possible?
Selecting a comfortable and long-lasting mattress is the first step. After that, soft and cozy bed linens (such as sheets, duvet covers, and shams) will create a lavish spot to rest your head at the end of the day.”

4. The Dining Table-
“There are two reasons why dining tables make this list: 1. They’re the focal point of a dining room or kitchen. 2. From spills and hot dishes to scratches and nicks, dining tables take a beating, especially if they’re used every day.
Pricier tables can often be the most durable since they’re usually made with solid wood (instead of veneers), thick metal, or even topped with stone, such as marble or granite.”

5. Window Treatments-
“Rooms feel complete and more sophisticated with correctly fitting drapes or curtains adorning the windows. Whether you prefer the simple panel, or a more ornate curtain and valence pairing, find the window treatment that’s right for you!”
Yes!! I completely agree with all of these things, and the reasons why!  When it comes to artwork, lamps, pillows, window hardware, etc, it’s O.K. to go the less expensive rout if you are on a strict budget.  These are the accents that are easily changed when you get board and crave new color anyway.

This is because lately I have been obsessing over vintage keys… again.  I posted about them a while ago here, but I am dying to use keys somewhere in my new house!  I think I need to start a collection!
